Life in the ROK

West goes East: The lives and adventures of a Californian couple living in Seoul

We got out a little bit this weekend. We went to a Korean nightclub for our friend Jiah's birthday and enjoyed the house band/dance group seen in the photo. The clubs are all bottle service and we had to buy a $70 fruit plate just to get a table. Not quite $70 worth of fruit but the house band had some flashy costumes and highly choreographed dance steps. It made the watermelon taste better somehow.

Ann sent us an article she'd read about a place called the Heyri Art Valley north of Seoul. It is maybe 30 acres or so of highly designed homes/galleries that has been built in the last 5 years or so and is still being developed. Practically every house has a little cafe or shop as well. This cantilevered dwelling was one of our favorites. It's warming up here too, thank goodness. Winter is hard!

For Valentines Day Jay and I spent the night at the W Hotel Seoul. There were live Korean Pop singers for our entertainment and pretty much everything that could be was pink.
In the morning we had the pool to ourselves and indulged in a bit of sunshine in the lounge sculptures around the pool while it was about 30 F outside. Yes the view from the pool is of the Han River that runs through Seoul......not too shabby.
